【Abstract】The urban settlement of migrant workers is an important strategic goal for the high-quality development of China's new urbanization. The real significance and value of the new urbanization is not the expansion of population and urban scale, but the improvement of the quality of life of residents settled in cities. Based on the data of the China Labor Force Dynamics Survey (CLDS) of Sun Yat-sen University, this study systematically evaluates the impact of urban settlement on the quality of life of migrant workers by using ordinal logistic regression and least squares regression, and finds that urban settlement improves the quality of life of migrant workers, and "self-worth realization" and "respect and recognition" are the mechanisms for improving the quality of life of migrant workers. As a large number of migrant workers in China continue to settle in cities, the quality of life of migrant workers can be improved on the road of new urbanization, which can not only get the response and support of migrant workers, but also achieve high-quality development of new urbanization.
