【Abstract】Based on the data of the 2015 China Comprehensive Social Survey, this paper analyzes the effect of education on the well-being of the elderly in rural areas from the perspective of gender differences. Conclusions: (1) The well-being of the educated rural elderly was 15.8% higher than that of the uneducated rural elderly; There are significant gender differences in the impact of education on the well-being of older people in rural areas. (2) The mediating effect of health level showed that the interaction between education and mental health and the interaction between education and physical health had a significant impact on the well-being of the rural elderly, while the interaction between education and self-rated health had no significant effect. (3) Examining the mediating effect of socioeconomic status, the effects of the interaction between education and income level and the interaction between education and social networks on the well-being of rural male seniors were generally higher than those of rural female seniors. Based on this, we should fully understand the differences between the elderly male and female elderly in rural areas in terms of old-age needs, and meet the different needs of the elderly groups of different genders. On this basis, it is necessary to establish and improve the prevention and treatment mechanism for chronic diseases and the medical assistance system for the elderly in rural areas, so as to improve their sense of happiness and security.
