【Abstract】Based on the Overlapping Generations (OLG) model and the inter-provincial panel data from 2010 to 2017, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of population age structure and basic old-age insurance for urban and rural residents (hereinafter referred to as urban and rural residential insurance) on the consumption rate of rural residents. The results show that there is a significant negative relationship between the old-age dependency ratio and life expectancy and rural residents' consumption, but there is no significant relationship between the children's dependency ratio and rural residents' consumption. There is a significant positive relationship between the payment rate and coverage rate of urban and rural housing insurance and rural residents' consumption, but there is no significant relationship between the unification of urban and rural housing insurance and rural residents' consumption, and there is an interaction between urban and rural housing insurance payment rate and coverage rate on rural residents' consumption. The consumption habits of rural residents are relatively stable, and the growth of rural residents' income will inhibit the consumption expenditure of rural residents. It is recommended to improve the level of urban and rural housing insurance benefits, consolidate and improve the payment incentive mechanism, and clarify the government financial subsidies and individual payment responsibilities.
