In order to improve the quality of social science fund project declaration by teachers of the Center, on the morning of January 10, 2024, invited by the Center for Social Security Studies of Wuhan University, Professor Liu Jigang from Henan University of Chinese Medicine came to the center and gave a lecture entitled "Notes and Case Analysis of Social Science Fund Project Declaration". The lecture was chaired by Associate Professor Xue Huiyuan, Deputy director of the Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University. Professor Xiang Yunhua, Director of the Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University, attended the lecture and delivered a speech. More than 10 teachers and students from the center and college attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Director Xiang Yunhua made a brief introduction to the establishment of social science fund projects of the Center in recent years, and pointed out that the lecture was intended to provide opportunities for young teachers of the Center to exchange and learn about the application of social science fund projects. Deputy Director Xue Huiyuan welcomed and thanked Professor Liu Jigang for his visit and gave a brief introduction to Professor Liu Jigang. Professor Liu Jigang is a doctor of history, professor of Henan University of Chinese Medicine, Zhongjing backbone scholar, doctoral supervisor, "Academic Technology leader of Henan Provincial Department of Education", "Young backbone teachers of Henan Provincial Colleges and universities", and "Scientific and technological innovation talents of Henan Provincial Department of Education". From 2013 to 2023, Professor Liu Jigang led his team members to obtain 31 national social science fund projects and more than 100 provincial and ministerial level projects.

Subsequently, Professor Liu Jigang shared a special topic on "Social Science Fund project Application Precautions and Case Analysis". Professor Liu elaborated on the topic selection, problem solving, research review, research content, innovation points, core viewpoints, preliminary results, references and loose page layout of the Social Science fund project from eight aspects, and combined with the specific cases of his team's projects explained the points for attention in the process of writing the application. At the same time, he shared his own experience in the application and evaluation process of social science fund projects.

Finally, the teachers and students present communicated with Professor Liu on the new requirements such as the contents of the outline and the word limit in the application of the Social Science fund project, how to highlight the uniqueness of the research review, and the modification and adjustment after the failure of the project for the first time. Professor Liu's simple explanation of the whole process of social science fund project application, as well as his unique insights and mature experience, solved many puzzles for teachers and students present in the application of social science fund project, and provided new directions and ideas.

In a race of boats, those who row harder are the first. This special lecture not only provides opportunities for teachers to exchange learning and answer questions in the application of social science fund projects, but also creates a good academic research atmosphere in the center. It is expected that in the future, the teachers and students of the Center can focus on social practical problems and serve the overall situation of national development, and make new breakthroughs in the application of subject projects!
