On October 14, 2024, at the invitation of the Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University, Professor Lin Mingang, who was selected for the National Major Talent Project, director of the Social Security Research Center of Nanjing University, and doctoral supervisor, gave a lecture entitled "Historical Changes and Modern Reconstruction of Chinese-style pension - An Investigation Based on the Perspective of the Integration of Family and Country" for the teachers and students of the center. More than 30 people, including Professor Xiang Yunhua, Director of the Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University, Professor Meng Yingying, Director of the Department of Public Economics and Social Security, Associate Professor Xue Huiyuan, Deputy Director of the Social Security Research Center, Associate Professor Zhao Qing of the Department of Public Economics and Social Security, and Ph.D. and master's degree students, attended the lecture, which was presided over by Professor Xiang Yunhua.

  Professor Lin Mingang started to introduce the theme from the traditional pension model in China and the West, focusing on three aspects. The first is the country's traditional pension model. The second is the structuring of the modern pension service system. The third is social service to the country. Firstly Professor Lin Mingang explained and analyzed the traditional pension model between China and the West, compared the traditional pension model of China's "feedback model" with the traditional pension model of the Western "relay model", and analyzed the characteristics of China's traditional pension model. It is concluded that the traditional Chinese pension model has the characteristics that the family and the country share responsibility since the Qin Dynasty, that is, the pension is the content of the national governance of the past dynasties, and the care for the elderly is the ideal picture of the national governance of the past dynasties, and the formation of respecting the old and enjoying the old has become a civilized fashion, and the country has played an important role in the traditional pension model.

  Secondly, Professor Lin Mingang explained the structure of the modern pension service system, and he divided the structure of the modern pension service system into two parts. The first structuring of the pension service system (1949-1978) appeared in the context of the planned economic system, and the structural welfare of this period integrated the members of the society into the new social structure framework of the country-unit-individual, so that the individual had a strong sense of belonging to the unit, which was an extension of the integration of the family and the country. After the system reform, there was a second structure, through the field research of the pension system in Shanghai, Nanjing, Nantong and other regions during this period, Professor Lin Mingang found that the role of the community in the pension service is becoming increasingly prominent, then put forward the social service country and  the community of home care and institutional pension community and the social concept of all-age friendly.

  Finally, Professor Lin Mingang had a heated exchange and discussion with the teachers and students on the issues of "the characteristics of the unit system of pension", "the regional differentiation of community capabilities" and "the responsibility boundary of the main body of the pension service".The teachers and students at the scene enjoyed an academic feast in Professor Lin Mingang's enthusiastic speech, rigorous analysis and vivid metaphors.
