【Abstract】Extensive economic growth and rapid urbanization have brought about the rapid development of China's economy, but they have also caused serious environmental problems. Exploring the relationship between urban environmental pollution and urban settlement of migrant workers is of great practical significance for promoting the construction of new urbanization. Based on the data of the 2016 National Dynamic Monitoring Survey on Health and Family Planning of Floating Population, the impact and mechanism of haze on migrant workers' willingness to settle in urban areas were analyzed for the first time. The results show that: first, there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between haze and migrant workers' willingness to settle in cities, that is, there is a "push-pull effect" on migrant workers' urban settlement. Second, after using "car ownership per unit area" as an instrumental variable to deal with endogeneity, the impact of haze on migrant workers' urban settlement still has a "push-pull effect". Thirdly, the impact mechanism found that smog has a "push-out effect" through the health perception of migrant workers, and a "pull effect" through the economic income of migrant workers. Therefore, in the process of promoting new urbanization and urban-rural integration, laws and regulations should be improved to promote technological reform and healthy development of industries. Attention should be paid to the appropriateness of urban construction, and the return of migrant workers and the retention of urban areas should be reasonably guided, so as to promote the realization of rural revitalization and new urbanization.
