【Abstract】Based on the data of the 2014 Peking University Survey on Factors Influencing Health and Longevity of the Elderly in China (CLHLS), this paper used the latent category analysis model (LCM) and multiple Logit regression models to explore the potential categories and differences in the mental health of the elderly, as well as the impact of "loss" factors on the mental health of the elderly. The results show that the mental health of the elderly can be divided into three categories: positive, ambivalent and negative, and the ambivalent type accounts for more than 50%. The "loss" factor is a direct factor affecting the mental health of the elderly, and the elderly with unrestricted daily activity ability, intact cognitive function, and good sleep quality are more likely to have a positive type. The impact of "loss" factors on the mental health of the elderly was different in different household registration and socioeconomic status, and the factor of daily activity ability had a greater impact on the elderly in rural areas and lower socioeconomic status, and sleep quality had a greater impact on the elderly in urban areas and higher socioeconomic status. Based on this, this paper puts forward the following suggestions: we should pay attention to the identification and intervention of the elderly with ambivalent syndrome; It is necessary to improve the health support system for the elderly, improve the planning, layout and configuration of elderly service facilities, and promote the construction of a livable environment for the elderly; It is necessary to implement precise and classified policies.
