On the afternoon of November 22, 2023, at the invitation of the Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University, Associate Professor and Dr. Jingwei of the Minister of Public Policy of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology visited the Center and brought a discussion entitled "Comparative Case Analysis in Public Policy: What is it?" How?" The lecture. Associate Professor Xue Huiyuan, Deputy director of the Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University, presided over the lecture, and more than 50 teachers and students from the center, college and outside the school listened to the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Associate Professor Xue Huiyuan first introduced Dr. He Jingwei and the theme of the lecture. Dr. He Jingwei is an adjunct Associate Professor and Acting Director of the School of Public Policy at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He holds a PhD in Public policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. His main research expertise is policy innovation, healthcare policy and governance, and social policy reform.

Using his two recent papers published in top international journals as examples, Dr. He introduced and explained the multi-case comparative analysis in public policy in simple terms. Taking the first article as an example, Dr. He introduced the analysis method of typology, used the theory of complex adaptive systems to construct the experimental governance mechanism under the complexity of interests and technologies, and used multi-case analysis to explain how China explores possible policy solutions through experimental governance in the complex policy system.

Taking the second article as an example, Dr. He explained the QCA method, emphasized that it should be linked with interpretive cases, and explored the selection of pilot cities for public hospital reform in China.

After the passionate sharing with Dr. He, the teachers and students present competed for questions, and teachers and students from political science, administration, social security and other majors had a heated discussion and exchange with Dr. He. Finally, the moderator, Associate Professor Xue Huiyuan, summarized the lecture and thanked the presenter and Dr. Jingwei.
