To improve the quality of party building, give full play to the leading role of party building, and promote the development of social security theory and practice, on September 11th, 2024, the Guangdong Provincial Social Insurance Agency and the Party Branch of the Department of Public Economics and Social Security of the School of Political Science and Public Administration Wuhan University held an exchange symposium in Conference Room 244 of the old government management department. There were nine representatives from each side, for a total of 18 people.

  The symposium was presided over by Associate Professor Liu Weibing, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Public Economics and Social Security. At the beginning of the meeting, Zhang Xuesong, secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Social Insurance Agency, delivered a speech, emphasizing the importance of professional learning and exchanges for the construction of talent teams and encouraging them to speak freely. Then, Secretary Zhang introduced the party building and business work of the institution, and pointed out the three key points of business work, first, to ensure the safety of the fund. Second, strengthen convenient services. Third, improve the security system. Secretary Zhang made it clear that the business work depends on the work of party building, and the sound construction of the party organization of the Social Security Bureau.Besides,the standardization of the construction of the party branch benefit from understanding the theory according to local conditions, learning from time to time with the party in mind, and the value pursuit of spiritual party building .

  Immediately afterwards, Secretary Liu Weibing introduced the construction of the Party branch of the Department of Public Economy and Social Security. It shows that the party branch of the department is a united, positive, energetic and hopeful team, and introduces the activities in party day and the joint construction of the branch. The activities in party day of the branch pay attention to the visit of the red base inside and outside the school, regularly lecture on party classes, hold  knowledge competitions about party building party history, and exchange learning experiences. The platform co-built by the branch includes poverty alleviation institutions, bases for practice, internship and research, especially pension institutions, and a special consultation report submission platform, which not only includes the co-construction between schools and enterprises, majors, teachers and students, but also cooperates with compulsory education schools.

  Subsequently, the participants exchanged views on practical issues such as branch construction, discipline and professional development, talent training, student employment and social security system reform and development. Director Yi Dongfeng said that Guangdong Province has made steady progress in policy innovation, canceling the household registration and insurance threshold for flexible employees, and doing well in expanding the coverage of social insurance, while digging deeper at the level of improving quality and efficiency.

  Finally, Professor Wang Zengwen, Deputy Director of the Social Security Research Center and Deputy Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration Wuhan University, made a concluding speech. He pointed out that Guangdong Province is not only the forefront of reform and opening up, but also the highland of social construction and reform, from this symposium and exchange, he felt that the theoretical development is "long and difficult", but from the practice to refine and clarify the direction of future efforts, continue to develop, so that the results of reform benefit the people. Under the leadership of the party, the institutions will do a good job in "party building + business", and colleges and universities will do a good job in "party building + academic", and the two sides will integrate and create a "party building + business + academic" pattern, empower each other and complement each other's advantages.

  The successful holding of this symposium not only created a window for exchanges between the social insurance agency of Guangdong Province and the Department of Public Economics and Social Security/Social Security Research Center of Wuhan University, but also provided inspiration and guidance for the development of the theoretical and practical system.
