【Abstract】Based on the data of the 2018 China Enterprise-Labor Matching Survey (CEES), this paper innovatively and empirically analyzes the impact and mechanism of social security investment on enterprise innovation. The results show that the crowding out effect of the increase of social security investment on the innovation resources of Chinese enterprises is not obvious at this stage. Further analysis finds that under the premise of full control of other factors, the increase in social security investment will significantly enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the labor market, help to motivate and attract more high-quality human capital, and promote the continuous improvement of enterprise innovation ability. Heterogeneity analysis shows that compared with small and medium-sized enterprises, the incentive function of social security investment in large enterprises on enterprise innovation is more significant. It is suggested to take a reasonable view of the social insurance burden of enterprises, guide large enterprises to pay attention to the incentive effect of social insurance investment, and at the same time, reduce the social insurance burden of small and medium-sized enterprises.
